Calgary man stopped from entering Parliament over pro-oil shirt

CALGARY (660 NEWS) – For the second time in a matter of weeks, some Albertans have been stopped from entering the Parliament building because of a pro-oil shirt.

Over the weekend, Calgarian Chris Wollin and his fiance were wearing the shirts promoted by the group Canada Action when they were told by security guards they wouldn’t be allowed in the building because the message on the shirts was too political.

On his Facebook page, Wollin wrote, “I’m not sure what is wrong with proudly supporting our national energy sector and all the benefits it provides to all Canadians.”

According to the Parliament’s website, participating in any form of demonstration inside the buildings is prohibited. That includes wearing items with visible political messages.

Earlier this month, another Alberta resident, William Lacey, was wearing a similar shirt in the Parliament building when he was told by a security guard he would have to remove his shirt because it could be offensive.
