VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – It’s a marriage proposal that left many in Vancouver in suspense. A photograph of a marriage proposal saying: “Will you marry me Emilee?” made entirely of lights has made the rounds on social media, and was taken near Coal Harbour.

But it left one unanswered question: was the answer yes?

After an exhaustive search, the couple has been identified as Xander and Emilee, and they live in Richmond, B.C.

And the answer?

“I said yes. Yes. Yes. Yes,” Emilee says.

When it comes to inspiration, Xander says a lot of time and thought was put into popping the question.

“Well, I know this is one of the most important days in our lives, so I wanted to make sure it was as good as possible,” he says. “I love the lights. I knew I had a great place where I have a nice view, got some lights together and made it happen.”

Xander and his friends and family were also decorated the apartment, overlooking Coal Harbour, with rose petals and lights.

“There’s a lot of effort, but it was a family and friend effort. So that was my parents and other friends,” he says. “I think it took a total of five or six hours. It was a big project, but I think it was worth it.”

As for Emilee, the proposal came on her birthday, and was a bit of a surprise.

“We had such a casual day. I thought okay, it’s definitely not happening today, not for my birthday,” she says.”Then I saw lights and candles and all sorts of stuff. And then I was like, okay, it’s happening. This is it.”

The happy couple has set the wedding date for next summer.
