Push continues to name Kamloops road after fallen Snowbird

KAMLOOPS (NEWS 1130) — A week after it was launched, a petition to have the road that leads to the airport in Kamloops named after fallen Snowbird Capt. Jenn Casey is still going strong.

Organizers are hoping for 50,0000 signatures before the petition is handed to city council.

As of Tuesday morning, the petition had more than 38,000 signatures.

The petition seeks to change the name of Airport Road to Capt. J. Casey memorial way.

Casey was killed when the Canadian Snowbirds jet she was in crashed in a residential area shortly after take-off on May 17.

The 35-year-old former journalist was the public affairs officer for the Snowbirds.

She was laid to rest in her hometown of Halifax this past weekend.

The pilot in the crash, Capt. Richard MacDougall, sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
