MONTREAL – A 12-year-old girl is dead following a fire at a Lasalle home Tuesday morning.

A few dozen firefighters attended the blaze that broke out around 9:30 a.m.

First responders were able to pull the girl, who was apparently trapped in the basement, from the house.

Fire crews performed CPR and she was rushed to hospital where she succumbed to her injuries.

The girl’s siblings, who were also in the house are the time of the fire, made it out alive.

Investigators will work to determine the cause of the fire, but firefighters onsite say they didn’t hear the sound of a fire alarm and are not sure whether there was one or if it was dysfunctional.
