Former Prime Minister John Turner honoured with Canada Post stamp

OTTAWA – Canada Post is honouring the life of former Prime Minister John Turner with a stamp.

Unveiled Monday, the stamp features a picture of Turner smiling as he sails a boat in Haida Gwaii in B.C. in 1985.

The picture was taken by Turner’s widow and picked by the family.

“This is a tremendous tribute to John, and an honour to our family to see his life’s work recognized in such a meaningful way,” his wife, Geills, says.

She says the picture on the stamp “is so special” and that it captures the former prime minister’s spirit and evokes his love for nature, the water, and Canada.

Turner died in September of 2020. He was 91 years old.

Stamps and collectibles are available online and at postal outlets across Canada.
