Head-on collision in Louiseville leaves two women with serious injuries

MONTREAL — Provincial police say two drivers were seriously injured in a head-on collision on Saturday night in Louiseville, Que.

Officers say the two women crashed on Route 348, also known as Chemin de la Grande, at around 11:30 p.m. in the town roughly half an hour west of Trois-Rivieres, Que.

Police say one of the two drivers veered from her lane, leading to the collision.

The two women, aged 19 and 41, were alone in their vehicles and transported to hospital with serious injuries.

Sgt. Helene St-Pierre, a spokeswoman for the Surete du Quebec, says the older of the two sustained injuries that are life-threatening.

She says the situation could have taken a turn for the worse when a third driver was unable to steer clear of the accident, striking one of the two vehicles but leaving all four occupants unharmed.
