Sainte-Odile school in Cartierville closed until at least Friday due to COVID-19 cases

MONTREAL (CityNews) ─ Sainte-Odile elementary school in Cartierville has been completely closed since Tuesday due to multiple COVID-19 cases at the school.

It’s unclear how many cases there are, but public health sent parents a letter Monday recommending the temporary closure. The letter said this would make it easier to keep track of cases and to help the administration manage the situation.

Virtual learning begins Thursday while the school remains closed until at least Friday. Students are expected back next week.

Sainte-Odile is not in one of the Montreal neighbourhoods where rapid tests were deployed by the government, but the Centre de services scolaire de Montréal (CSSDM), in charge of the school, says rapid tests will soon be given to all their elementary schools.

More than 800 schools in Quebec have at least one active COVID-19 case, with at least 200 classes closed.
