Alleged family conflict in Montreal leaves father dead, son arrested

Montreal police say a man has died after being involved in what they describe as a family dispute with his son.

Police say they received a call around 5:30 a.m. on Friday about a 62-year-old man who was allegedly stabbed in a home in the city’s north end.

The man, whose identity has not yet been released, was taken to hospital where he later died of his injuries.

The victim’s 21-year-old son was arrested on-site and remains in custody.

Montreal police spokesperson Marianne Allard-Morin says officers are still meeting with witnesses and no charges have yet been laid.

The homicide is the 12th reported in Montreal since the beginning of the year.
