SQ investigate possible femicide in Sainte-Marthe-sur-le-Lac

The Sûreté du Québec (SQ) is investigating what they believe was intimate partner violence in connection to two suspicious deaths in Sainte-Marthe-sur-le-Lac.

Police responding to a 911 call around 11:45 p.m. on Wednesday night, of two people who had suffered serious injuries inside a home on des Mélèzes street in the Laurentian town about 42 kilometres north-east of Montreal.

They found a man in his 70s with severe injuries, but his life is not in danger, and an unconscious woman in her 30s who was later confirmed to have died.

Soon after, a man in his 40s, was found seriously injured inside a vehicle a few kilometres away at a second scene on rue du Nordet – and pronounced dead in hospital.

SQ says no other suspects are wanted in this case.

There were children inside the residence, but it’s unclear what they may have seen. They have since been taken charge by Youth Protection services (DPJ).
