The Major Crimes Section of the Montreal police (SPVM) arrested a suspect in connection with the murder of a man near the Place-des-Arts metro station kiosk in September.
In a press release, authorities say Jesse John Brandon Moore, 29, was arrested Tuesday and charged Wednesday with the Sept. 4 second-degree murder of a man experiencing homelessness.
At around 10 a.m., on Sept. 4, a man in his 40s was found bloodied behind the Place-des-Arts metro station kiosk, near Jeanne-Mance and de Maisonneuve west. He showed injuries inflicted by a sharp object.
The victim was rushed to hospital, but died a few hours later.
This was the 28th homicide to occur on the island of Montreal in 2023.
On Sept. 14, the SPVM deployed a mobile command post to the area of the incident – hoping to gather more information from people there.
“The SPVM would like to thank [those] who [came and] provided information to the police to help advance the investigation.”
