Montreal-area road closures this weekend

The Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility informs road users that there will be several road closures from Feb. 16 to 19.

The Papineau-Leblanc bridge and a portion of Highway 19 will be completely closed to traffic during the weekend due to construction.

This closure will start Friday at 10 p.m. and will end Monday 4:30 a.m.

The roads will be closed going southbound between highway 440 (Jean-Noël-Lavoie) and Henri-Bourrassa Blvd.

Additionally, there will be a closure in the north direction between Henri-Bourassa and de la Concorde boulevards but access to Saint-Martin Blvd. will be possible.

If you want to travel between Montreal and Laval, road users can take the Médéric-Martin bridge (A-15) or the Pie-IX bridge (R-125).

Louis-Hippolyte-La Fontaine tunnel

There will be a complete closure of Highway 25 in both directions, including the Louis-Hippolyte-La Fontaine tunnel from Feb. 16 to 17 for maintenance work.

Highway 25 going towards the South Shore will be closed between exit 5 – R-138, Hochelaga Street, Sherbrooke Street, and the entrance from the Charron Island.

Souligny Avenue eastbound, between Dickson Street and Honoré-Beaugrand Street, will be closed 30 minutes before the complete closure of the highway.

Highway 25 towards Montreal will be closed between exit 90 – Autoroute 20 west, route 132, La Prairie/USA, Varennes, and Trudeau airport from highway 20 and the entrance from Notre-Dame East Street.

The work will begin Friday night to Saturday morning, from 11 p.m. to 8 a.m.

Entrances to this section will be closed 30 minutes before the complete closure of the highway.

The Ministry recommends that drivers should prepare for a longer travel time if they’re coming to the area because congestion is to be expected.

The work could be postponed, extended, or cancelled due to weather conditions or operational constraints.

Detour routes will be marked with temporary signage.

Transport Ministry suggests consulting Québec 511 before you head out on the road.
