Arrest made in theft of $25,000 worth of PGA merchandise stolen from a Montreal Hotel

Thousands of dollars worth of PGA merchandise was stolen from a downtown Montreal hotel last week and police (SPVM) have made an arrest.

On Thursday, they took a 46-year-old suspect into custody downtown, in connection to the two thefts committed inside the Queen Elizabeth Hotel.

It happened on Sept. 20 and 21, and police say, “the individual allegedly entered the premises and stole several items and official clothing for a major golf tournament held in the city, valued at over $25,000.”

The stolen items included official clothing, like polo shirts, caps, jackets and shoes that pros were set to wear for the Presidents Cup.

The suspect appeared at the Montreal courthouse Friday to face charges of theft and receiving stolen goods. He will remain in custody until is next court hearing.

SPVM add that the investigation is continuing in an attempt to trace the stolen golf items and clothing.
