Partial lift of boil water advisory after major water main break in Pointe-Claire

A partial lift of the boil water advisory was issued on Monday for sectors of Pointe-Claire after a major water main break Friday evening.

The city of Pointe-Claire said in a press release that “the repair of the water main will take a few weeks, as we are awaiting the necessary replacement part.”

“The hope is to get water running ASAP and lift the water advisory prior to the part being manufactured,” said the Mayor of Pointe-Claire, Tim Thomas in a Facebook post.

“This seems doable and the hope is to get the businesses open before the end of the weekend,” he added. “Please bear in mind that this is a best case scenario.”

Thomas added that the interim, Councillor Cousineau informed him that Pointe-Claire will be making bottled water available to those in need.

According to the city, the break occurred at the Cartier Avenue and Bord-du-Lac-Lakeshore Road intersection.

Boil water advisory remains in effect for the following sectors:

• Saint-Anne area between Lanthier Avenue and Bord-du-Lac–Lakeshore Road

Boil water advisory has been lifted for:

• • Bord-du-Lac–Lakeshore Road between Saint-Joachim and Cartier Avenues
• • Lourdes Avenue
• • Saint-Joachim Avenue
• • Demers Avenue
• • Victoria Avenue
• • Cartier and Saint-Anne Avenues (south of Bord-du-Lac–Lakeshore Road)

“We will inform you when the boil notice is lifted,” they said in the statement. “We ask road users to avoid this area during this time, as there will still be some water leakage.”

“We thank you for your understanding,” they added. “And will keep you updated as the situation evolves.”
