Body found in Ahuntsic-Cartierville park is 32nd homicide of year: Montreal police

By News Staff

Montreal police say the body found in an Ahuntsic-Cartierville park Wednesday morning is being investigated as the 32nd homicide of the year.

SPVM spokesperson Jean-Pierre Brabant said certain elements on scene at the l’Île-de-la-Visitation nature park on Gouin Boulevard East and de Lille Street led investigators to determine it was a murder.

Authorities say they do not know if the victim is a man or a woman, and they are unclear on the cause of death. There will be an autopsy performed.

Maintenance staff at the park discovered the body around 10 a.m. and called 911. Police confirmed the death once on scene.

The park remained partially open to the public, as the SPVM’s major crimes unit investigates.
