Allergens found in food products at Marche Epicure in Montreal

By News Staff

The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food (MAPAQ) is warning those with an allergy to wheat, soy, mustard, shellfish, and fish to stay away from various salads and chicken noodle soups prepared and sold by Marché Épicure in Montreal.

This comes after several of these products have been found marked without any indication of possible traces to certain allergenic substances on the labels.

The department is also advising anyone with celiac disease, or another disease induced by eating gluten to avoid the products below:

-Crab salad: Mustard, shrimp, fish, and soy, but says “may contain.”

-Olivier salad KG: mustard

-Chicken noodle soup: Wheat and eggs but says “may contain.”

“In addition, affected people who have one of these products in their possession are advised not to consume it,” said the MAPAQ in a statement. “They must return it to the establishment where they purchased it or throw it away.”

Marché Épicure is located at 5555 Westminster Ave., local 100.

The store said it has begun recalling the products. They were packaged in a clear plastic container and sold refrigerated.
