Boil-water advisory lifted in Montreal North

By News Staff

The precautionary boil water advisory was lifted in the borough of Montreal North late Friday afternoon. It had been in effect since Wednesday night, after a cut-off and drop in water pressure.

“Water samples taken over the past few hours show that the situation has been restored in the area,” said the City of Montreal in a press release. Adding that they are “confident that the water meets all regulatory requirements for drinking water quality. As a result, it is no longer necessary to boil water before consuming it in this sector.”

As necessary precautions, the city says to:

  • Open all cold water taps and let the water run for a few minutes before using it.
  • The same procedure applies to outdoor taps, garden hoses and drinking fountains.
  • Empty, wash and disinfect coffee and ice machines.
  • Change filters on water treatment or filtration systems (jugs, tap or under-sink filters, fridges with water dispensers, etc.) in accordance with the manufacturer’s recommendations.
  • It is not necessary to empty the hot water tank.

Citizens wishing to obtain more information about this advisory can call the Ville de Montréal at 311 at any time, or visit the city’s website.
