The 2025 edition of the “Climate Solutions Award” will offer $1.5 million in prizes for start-ups and researchers in technologies to combat and adapt to climate change.

For its third edition, the “Climate Solutions Award” will accept applications from across Canada, while the first editions were only for Quebec innovators.

“More than ever, the Climate Solutions Award and festival are positioning themselves as a unique incubator bringing together start-ups, researchers, investors and industry leaders around concrete and achievable solutions to meet the urgent challenge of the climate crisis,” said Galith Levy, president and CEO of the Prix solutions climatiques organization, during a press conference Tuesday morning in Montreal.

“Our festival is growing at a rapid pace. The first year, we were talking about $300,000 in prizes, last year, we offered a little over $1 million and today, we are announcing more than $1.5 million in prizes.”

The winners will be announced at the 2025 Climate Solutions Festival, which will take place on June 17-18 at the Bonsecours Montréal market.

The solutions proposed by the participants must reduce greenhouse gases, improve energy efficiency or make carbon capture possible by natural or artificial means.

“It’s a great way to showcase innovation” and it is “innovation that will make it possible to achieve” greenhouse gas reduction targets, declared Environment Minister Benoit Charette, who participated in the press conference.

He added that “the Climate Solutions Award has established itself as an essential hub that brings together Quebec talent and the spirit of innovation.”

The Bank of Montreal, Power Sustainable, Cycle Momentum and 2 Degrés are among the competition’s main partners.
