By The Canadian Press

An apartment building in the Ahuntsic-Cartierville borough of Montreal had to be evacuated as a precaution overnight – after a vehicle fire nearby.

According to Montreal Police (SPVM), the incident occurred around 1:15 a.m. Tuesday on Lille Street, near Sauriol.

Firefighters managed to bring the vehicle blaze under control – the flames didn’t cause any injuries.

“After various checks, incendiary elements were located near the vehicle. For these reasons, the investigation was transferred to the arson section,” said officer Florence Stafford, who is a spokesperson for the SPVM.

As of Tuesday morning, no arrests have been reported in this case.

The vehicle was towed for examination and an investigation is ongoing.
