Montreal pedestrian struck by bus expected to survive, investigation ongoing

By The Canadian Press

Montreal police (SPVM) say a pedestrian, who was struck by a bus Wednesday afternoon in Mercier-Hochelaga-Maisonneuve, will survive their injuries.

Officers were called to Pie-IX Blvd., near Sainte-Catherine Street, at around 4:30 p.m.

When police arrived, the 42-year-old pedestrian had sustained serious lower-body injuries and was taken to hospital in critical condition.

Initial reports suggest the victim slipped and fell under the bus.

Investigators from the Collision Investigation Unit were on the scene, which has been cordoned off, to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.

The SPVM warns that traffic in the area is slow due to the investigation.
