Venues will be able to apply for funding to enhance their business operations, increase audience engagement, and implement marketing strategies. Independent venues that have hosted at least 35 performances in the past year can apply for up to $40,000, while groups of multiple venues can access up to $100,000.

Alia Hassan-Cournol, the city’s Executive Committee member responsible for economic development, emphasized the importance of small performance venues, noting their crucial role in local economies and community life.

Marie Plourde, the city’s Executive Committee member for culture and nightlife, also highlighted the initiative’s alignment with the goal of enriching Montreal’s cultural landscape and making the city a more vibrant place to live.

The program will be managed by PME MTL, which provides support to local entrepreneurs, and will be available starting in March 2025.
