Quebec Finance Minister Eric Girard announced Wednesday that he will present his 2025-2026 budget on March 25.
He indicated in a publication on the social network X that “this will be an opportunity to present our plan to support Quebec in the face of economic uncertainty.”
Last November, Minister Girard presented an economic update in which he continued his clean-up of tax spending in order to avoid further increasing the record deficit of $11 billion.
In particular, he announced that workers aged 60 to 64 would no longer be entitled to the tax credit for career extension, a tax benefit that could reach $1,540 per year.
He had then maintained his objective of returning to a balanced budget by 2029-2030. The imposition of 25 per cent customs duties by American President Donald Trump on imports from Canada could, however, change the situation.
