Quebecers warned not to consume ‘Brossard Bagels’

By News Staff

Quebec’s Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food (MAPAQ), in collaboration with Brossard Bagel Inc., is warning the public not to consume bagels from this company, as they have not been prepared and stored in a manner that ensures their safety.

The products subject to this warning were available for sale until April 15 in several establishments across Quebec – including major grocery stores like Maxi.

The recall includes plain, sesame, and poppy seed bagels – sold at room temperature in clear plastic bags.

“The operator is recalling the products in question,” the MAPAQ wrote in a news release. “It has agreed with the Ministry to issue this warning as a precautionary measure.”

“Anyone in possession of any of these products is advised not to consume them,” they added.

The MAPAQ said that the bagels can be returned to the establishment where they were purchased or discard them.

“Even if the affected products show no signs of spoilage or suspicious odor, their consumption may pose a health risk,” said the MAPAQ.

No illnesses associated with the consumption of these foods have been reported to MAPAQ to date.
