Pedestrian seriously injured by car while crossing viaduct in Montreal

A pedestrian was seriously injured after being hit by a car on Saturday morning in Montreal.
Several 911 calls reported the accident, which occurred around 6:15 a.m. in the Ville-Marie borough.
The 57-year-old man was struck while crossing Notre-Dame Street, near Frontenac Street.
“When police officers arrived on scene, they located the unconscious pedestrian on the ground. He suffered a serious head injury. Police officers on scene began resuscitation procedures,” said Constable Véronique Dubuc, spokesperson for the Montreal Police Service (SPVM). The victim regained consciousness and was taken to the hospital.
“According to initial information obtained by the police, the pedestrian was struck by a car while crossing the viaduct on Notre-Dame Street (…) The driver of the vehicle is a 29-year-old man and he suffered a nervous shock,” said Officer Dubuc.
Motorists should avoid the area as the scene has been sealed off pending the police investigation. Investigators from the SPVM’s collision investigation unit were called to the scene. They will attempt to determine the exact causes and circumstances that led to this collision.
