Châteauguay man charged with 2nd-degree murder in wife’s death

A mother of three was allegedly killed by her husband Wednesday afternoon in Châteauguay and he was charged with second-degree murder in her death on Thursday.

Simone Mahan, 45, was a health care worker. She was found lifeless in her home on Jules-Dumouchel street.

Police were dispatched at around 3 p.m. to the scene and it’s reported that one of victim’s children was in the residence at the time.

The woman’s husband – Marcellin Koman Mbo – was arrested in Saint-Stanislas-de-Kostka, about 30 minutes from Châteauguay on Wednesday, shortly after the body was discovered.

He was charged at Salaberry-de-Valleyfield courthouse Thursday afternoon.

According to reports, the pair was in the midst of a possible separation.

This is believed to be the fifth femicide in Quebec this year.

Koman Mbo is expected back in court on May 29.
