A 32-year-old man was struck by a pickup truck on Sunday evening in Montreal’s Villeray neighbourhood.
Montreal Police (SPVM) received several 911 calls around 10:45 p.m. regarding a collision between a vehicle and a pedestrian at the intersection of L.-O.-David Street and Papineau Avenue.
“When police arrived on the scene they located the victim,” said SPVM spokesperson, Caroline Chèvrefils. “He was concious and he was injured to the upper body then he was transported to the hospital.”
“We don’t fear for his life,” she added.
The driver of the pickup truck, a 33-year-old man, was not injured nor transported to hospital.
According to initial information, the driver was traveling westbound on L.-O.-David Street and when he reached the intersection of Papineau Avenue he attempted a left turn before striking the victim, who was crossing.
“The collision with the pedestrian would have occured at the south of the intersection where the pedestrian was crossing Papineau Avenue and where there was no crosswalk,” said Chèvrefils.
Investigators will analyze the scene and attempt to determine the circumstances of the collision.
