32-year-old woman found dead in Vaudreuil-Dorion, possible femicide

The Sûreté du Québec (SQ) is investigating what they are calling two ‘suspicious deaths’ – of a man and woman, which could be a murder-suicide.

If confirmed, this would be the fifth femicide in the last five weeks in the province.

Emergency services were called at around 5:15 a.m. Tuesday following the discovery of two people found lifeless – one in a park in the Pointe-des-Cascades area and in a Vaudreuil-Dorion home.

It started with a passerby noticing a body in the park – said to be a 38-year-old man.

The SQ tells CityNews that there are no further details confirming how the pair died.

“At this stage, all hypotheses are being considered,” said SQ spokesperson Ève Brochu-Joubert.

Police went to the home of the man that was found in the park and that’s where they discovered the body of a 32-year-old woman — who was reportedly the mother of two young children.

The pair are said to know each other, but police would not confirm if that was the case.

Officers from the Crimes Against the Person Investigation Division and technicians from the Forensic Identification Service have been assigned to the case in order to shed light on the events.
