The Montreal police (SPVM) confirmed Friday the death of a 21-year-old man who was shot in the parking lot of Angrignon Park in Montreal on June 24. This marks the 19th homicide in the SPVM jurisdiction since the beginning of the year.
Emergency services were called around 8:30 p.m. that day regarding a man who had been shot in the parking lot of Angrignon Park, in the Southwest borough.
“He was seriously wounded by gunfire in the upper body,” SPVM spokesperson Caroline Chèvrefils told The Canadian Press.
He was then transported to a hospital where he was treated in critical condition since June 24 before succumbing to his injuries on Friday.
“One or more suspects reportedly fled the scene in a vehicle,” added Chèvrefils.
“A perimeter was set up to secure the scene for investigators and forensic technicians so they could analyze the site and try to determine the exact circumstances of the incident.”
According to the SPVM, a shell casing was found at the scene. Investigators from the Major Crimes Unit are now in charge of the case.
Chèvrefils said no arrests have been made and the investigation is ongoing.
