The body of a 60-year-old woman was found inside a home in Anjou on Tuesday morning.

CityNews has learned that the woman’s son was later found dead on Notre-Dame-de-l’Île-Perrot after she was discovered.

According to our information, the two events are linked.

The second incident took place more than 60 kilometres away from the woman.

Montreal police (SPVM) received a 911 call around 5:20 a.m. asking officers to make a wellness check at the home on Baldwin Street near Yves Prévost Blvd.

“When police officers arrived on site, they found an inanimate body of a woman aged 60 years old,” the SPVM said. “Sadly, her death was determined on site.”

“This is the 22nd homicide to occur on our territory in 2025,” explained Julien Lévesque, SPVM spokesperson,

Police set up a security perimeter around the scene and the investigation is being conducted by the Major Crimes Section of the SPVM.

By the end of the morning, authorities were still not in a position to provide further details on the circumstances surrounding this murder, nor to specify whether they had identified a suspect.

The BEI — Quebec’s police watchdog — confirms the launch of an investigation to shed light on the circumstances surrounding the case of the man found dead on Notre-Dame-de-l’Île-Perrot during a police intervention by the Sûreté du Québec (SQ).

According to the information provided in the BEI press release, police officers arrived at the scene around 5:25 a.m. to intervene “with a person who had allegedly made disturbing comments.”

The officers arrested the person in question, who was outside upon their arrival, but they later returned to their residence.

A security perimeter was established around the home, and then, around 9:00 a.m., the tactical intervention team arrived on the scene to attempt “to make contact with the subject inside the residence, but without success,” the BEI press release states.

The police finally entered the residence around 11:22 a.m., where they found the subject unresponsive. Paramedics pronounced him dead.

The BEI is responsible for investigating when a person, other than an on-duty police officer, “dies, suffers a serious injury, or is injured by a firearm used by a police officer during a police intervention or while in police custody,” the press release states.
