A 32-year-old man was hospitalized after being stabbed in Montreal early Tuesday morning. Two suspects have already been arrested in the case.

The man was attacked with a sharp object around 1:45 a.m. Tuesday on Cadillac Street, in the Mercier-Hochelaga-Maisonneuve borough.

The victim, who was injured in the upper body, had to be taken to hospital, but authorities do not believe his life is in danger.

The suspects in this case fled before the arrival of the police, but a search quickly began in the area.

Montreal police (SPVM) officers spotted a suspicious vehicle at the corner of Hochelaga and Dixon streets during the night. Two suspects were then arrested not far from the intersection.

“According to initial information received, the individuals involved in this event are known to each other, but the exact link between these individuals will have to be determined by the investigation,” said officer Jeanne Drouin, spokesperson for the SPVM, on Tuesday morning.

The two suspects, a 34-year-old man and a 32-year-old woman, were to be interviewed by police investigators on Tuesday.
