Police rule out foul play after human head found on banks of Rivière des Prairies in Montreal North

By News Staff

The human head recovered Sunday afternoon from the banks of the Rivière des Prairies in Montreal North, was that of a 40-year-old man.

Montreal Police (SPVM) confirmed the news on Tuesday and said they are ruling foul play out of this case.

According to authorities, the man allegedly took his own life.

“Investigators are able to confirm that no criminal act was committed,” said Véronique Dubuc, a media relations officer for the SPVM. “The victim took his own life.”

Emergency services were called to the scene around 3 p.m. on Sept. 7, regarding an inert human body part found along the Rivière des Prairies, not far from the intersection of Albert Brosseau Blvd. and Drapeau Ave.

A perimeter had been set up to allow police officers to conduct various investigative steps to determine the circumstances of the incident.

“Today SPVM divers will resume their search of the water to locate the body of the deceased,” said Dubuc.
