Cocaine seized in drug trafficking investigation between Montreal and Toronto

Montreal police and authorities in Ontario seized 32 kilograms of cocaine during an investigation into drug trafficking between Montreal and Toronto.

The SPVM says last week, searches were conducted in Toronto, Montreal, Terrebonne, and Longueuil where police also found and seized one kilo of crack cocaine, a firearm, nearly $500,000 in cash, and other evidence.

Four people were also taken into custody in both provinces on Sept. 30, with help from the Toronto Police Service and the Ontario Provincial Police.

One of the four that were taken into custody — a 39-year-old Guillaume Duchesne — appeared in court on Oct. 1, and is facing charges of drug possession and trafficking, possession of a prohibited weapon, and contravention of a prohibition order.

Wilrmin Vasquez Castillo, 35, remains in custody, and two women aged 32 and 38 years old have been released.

Police note the investigation began in June. It is believed the Toronto area was used as a supply point, and that the drugs were then resold at a higher price in Greater Montreal.
