Pedestrian hit by pickup truck in critical but stable condition: Montreal police

By News Staff

A 77-year-old woman was hit by a vehicle Monday morning on René-Lévesque Boulevard and Atwater Avenue.

Montreal police (SPVM) say it happened around 10:30 a.m., when the driver of a pickup truck was going east on René-Lévesque and turned right to go south on Atwater.

First reports say a citizen flagged the driver down who hadn’t realized they hit the woman and she was under the car.

“She was rushed to hospital in a critical state with serious injuries — at this moment undergoing surgery,” said Raphaël Bergeron, spokesperson for Montreal police.

Police later said the woman was in critical but stable condition.

The SPVM’s collision squad was on the scene as an investigation continues, but all signs seem to point to this being an accident, according to authorities.

They believe that the driver did not see the woman, as she could have been in their blind spot, but it’s still unclear who exactly had the right of way.
