Woman hit by vehicle succumbs to her injuries in Longueuil

A woman died after being struck by a car in Longueuil Monday evening.
According to Longueuil police (SPAL), the accident occurred around 7 p.m. on Sir-Wilfrid-Laurier Blvd. (Route 116), near Cousineau Blvd. Several people called emergency services to report a “collision between a vehicle and a pedestrian,” the SPAL said in a Facebook post.
Emergency personnel transported the woman, who was in her 40s, to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
Police advised that the section of Route 116 between Cousineau and Édouard Blvds was closed to traffic.
“The SPAL’s forensic identification section, as well as our investigators, are also involved in this case,” the police service said.
