Pedestrian hit by SUV in Montreal, will survive: SPVM

A young man was in critical condition after being struck by a car in Montreal on Monday evening, his life is now out of danger authorities confirmed on Tuesday morning.

Montreal police (SPVM) say that the collision involving a sport utility vehicle (SUV) occurred shortly before 8:35 p.m. on De Lorimier Avenue between Logan Street and De Maisonneuve Blvd.

The victim, a 21-year-old man, was in “critical condition” when he was taken to hospital, said Florence Stafford, media relations officer for the SPVM. She added that the 58-year-old driver suffered no injuries.

Witnesses interviewed by police stated that the SUV was traveling southbound on De Lorimier Avenue. The accident occurred when the pedestrian crossed the street “from west to east, where there is no crosswalk,” explained Stafford.

SPVM investigators were on site to examine the scene.
