Île-aux-Tourtes Bridge completely closed this weekend, more work on Highway 25 and La Fontaine tunnel

Transport Quebec says more road closures are expected over the coming weekend, including the complete closure of the Île-aux-Tourtes Bridge on Friday night, into Monday morning.

Highway 25

Transport Quebec says there will be a complete closure of Highway 25 toward Montreal between Exit 90 — Highway 20 West, Route 132, La Prairie, USA, Varennes, P.-E.-Trudeau Airport — and the entrance from Sherbrooke Street East between 11 p.m. on Nov. 28 and 5 a.m. on Dec. 1.

This closure will also include the Louis-Hippolyte-La Fontaine Tunnel.

Additionally, the entrance from Sherbrooke Street East will be closed from 10:30 p.m. on Saturday until 5 a.m. on Monday. For this part of the closure, drivers will be able to access Highway 25 through the entrance from Yves-Prévost Boulevard.

Heading toward the South Shore, there will be a complete night closure of Highway 25 between Exit 4 — Montreal [downtown], Jacques-Cartier Bridge — and the entrance from Charron Island, between 11 p.m. on Friday and 8 a.m. on Saturday.

Additionally, Souligny Avenue eastbound between Dickson and Honoré-Beaugrand streets will be closed between 11 p.m. on Friday and 5 a.m. on Monday.

As of 5 a.m. on Dec. 1, the entrance from Notre-Dame Street East and the ramp leading from Souligny Avenue eastbound to Highway 25 northbound will be accessible to drivers, and a third lane will be available on Highway 25 northbound from the Souligny interchange.

Île-aux-Tourtes Bridge

Transport Quebec also says the Île-aux-Tourtes Bridge, which links Senneville and Vaudreuil-Dorion along Highway 40 (Félix-Leclerc) will be completely closed from Nov. 28 to Dec. 1.

Starting at 11:59 p.m. on Nov. 28 until 5 a.m. on Dec. 1, Highway 40 westbound between Exit 44 — Morgan Blvd. — and the entrance from Saint-Charles Avenue will be completely closed.

During the same time frame, Highway 40 eastbound between Exit 35 — Vaudreuil-sur-le-Lac, Vaudreuil-Dorion, St-Charles Ave. — and the entrance from Des Anciens-Combattants Boulevard, will also be closed.

Additionally, the interchange of Highways 40 and 30, in Vaudreuil-Dorion, will see the closure of the ramp leading from Highway 40 eastbound to the Île-aux-Tourtes bridge.

During this time, tolls will be suspended in both directions on Highway 30 to provide an additional option for traffic.

Highway 30

Transport Quebec also says that bridge work is expected to continue on Highway 30 at the Highway 10 overpass.

Between 10 p.m. on Nov. 28 and 5 a.m. on Dec. 1, eastbound Highway 30 at Exit 67 — Montreal (downtown)/Sherbrooke — will be closed and diverted onto the service road, before returning to Highway 30 before the North Exit ramp 69 — Grande Allée.

There is the potential that night closures will be in place on the service road of westbound Highway 10 at Highway 30, which would also see the closure of the ramps from Highway 30 westbound to Highway 10 westbound and from Highway 10 westbound to Highway 30 eastbound.

This work is to allow for repairs to be made to the expansion joints of the overpass. Detours will also be marked by temporary signage.

Transport Quebec is reminding drivers to be vigilant and to follow the posted speed limit that is in effect.

Drivers are also reminded to check Quebec 511 prior to hitting the roads, as road work may be postponed based on weather.
