Cold snap hits Montreal with temperatures near -20 C with wind chill

Montrealers brace for plunging temperatures this week and wind chill will make it feel even colder.

Thursday began with a few lingering flurries before giving way to a mix of sun and clouds.

By midday temperatures will fall to minus-9 Celsius and wind chill will make it feel as cold as minus-21 C in the afternoon.

Overnight Thursday, skies will be partly cloudy, with a low near minus-14 C and a wind chill approaching minus-23 C.

Friday will be sunnier, turning to a mix of sun and cloud by midday. Highs will reach minus-7 C, with morning wind chills near minus-19 C. The night will be cloudy, with a low of minus-7 C.

Over the weekend, Montrealers can expect continued chilly weather and possible flurries.

Saturday and Sunday will see more clouds and a 60 per cent chance of flurries, with highs ranging from minus-1 C to minus-9 C and lows dipping to minus-12 C overnight.
