Louis-Hippolyte-La Fontaine tunnel to close fully Monday night for repairs

Transport Quebec announced that part of Highway 25, including the Louis-Hippolyte-La Fontaine Tunnel, will be closed Monday night for major repair work.

The closure will begin at 10 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 12, and last until 5 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 13, to allow for maintenance and inspection work on the tunnel.

During that time frame, Highway 25 toward the South Shore will be completely closed between Exit 4 (Montreal (downtown), Jacques Cartier Bridge) and the entrance from Île Charron.

Additionally, Highway 25 toward Montreal between Exit 90 (Highway 20 West, Route 132, La Prairie, USA, Varennes, P.-E.-Trudeau airport) and the entrance from Notre-Dame Street will also be completely closed.

The Louis-Hippolyte-La Fontaine tunnel will also be closed in both directions during this time.

Transport Quebec also notes that eastbound Souligny Avenue will be closed 30 minutes before the complete closure of Highway 25 in both directions between Dickson and Honoré-Beaugrand Streets.

This closure will be dependant on the weather and could be delayed. Drivers are urged to check Quebec 511 before hitting the road.
