Montreal police (SPVM) are investigating two arson attempts on two vehicles at a home in Beaconsfield early Friday.
SPVM first received a 911 call around 12:30 a.m. from a private residence on Westcroft Street, near Elm Avenue in Beaconsfield.
When the police arrived, they found that a window of one of the two vehicles in the driveway had been smashed and incendiary material had been left near the vehicle. But, the vehicle had not been set on fire.
A few hours later, at 3:45 a.m., SPVM received another 911 call from the same address about a fire on another vehicle. Firefighters quickly brought the fire under control.
“Traces of accelerant were found at the scene,” said SPVM spokesperson Jeanne Drouin. “The vehicle fired did not cause any apparent damage to the property.”
No injuries were reported. No arrests have been made.
“Surveillance camera footage was reviewed and at least one suspect was reportedly seen fleeing the crime scene before the police arrived,” said Drouin.
SPVM’s arson squad will take over the investigation.
