Longueuil police investigate assault outside metro station

Longueuil police (SPAL) are asking for the public’s help to identify a suspect following a morning assault near the Longueuil–Université-de-Sherbrooke metro station.

SPAL says officers responded to a call shortly after 8:30 a.m. Saturday near Place Charles-Le Moyne. A woman in her 40s was reportedly attacked by a man believed to be in his 30s.

The victim sustained injuries to her face and upper body and was taken to hospital for treatment. Police say her condition is stable and her injuries are not considered life-threatening.

The suspect left the area on foot and has not been located. Investigators say both individuals may be experiencing homelessness, and it remains unclear whether they were known to one another.

SPAL says the incident appears to be targeted and does not pose a broader risk to the public. The scene has since been cleared as police continue their investigation.

Anyone with information is encouraged to contact Longueuil police.
