Woman dies after domestic dispute in Montérégie

A 40-year-old woman is dead after an argument with a man that reportedly escalated on Sunday afternoon in Rougemont, in Quebec’s Montérégie region

According to initial reports, Sûreté du Québec (SQ) police officers were called at around 1:45 p.m. to a building on Petite-Caroline Street in Rougement.

Once there, they found a woman with serious injuries. She was taken to hospital, where she later died.

The man also suffered serious injuries, but his life is not in danger, said SQ spokesperson Béatrice Dorsainville.

An investigation has been launched. “Details will follow at a later date regarding the nature of the case,” said Dorsainville.
