Man arrested for kidnap attempt of teen girl in Villeray–Saint-Michel–Parc-Extension

Montreal police (SPVM) arrested a 34-year-old man, Wednesday, in connection with an attempt to kidnap a 13-year-old girl the borough of Villeray–Saint-Michel–Parc-Extension.

On Tuesday, SPVM received a 911 call regarding an incident involving the teenager around 8:45 p.m. near Jarry Street and Belges Avenue.

The suspect, Nicolas Cupidon, allegedly approached the victim and threatened her, but she managed to escape from the suspect.

He was arrested Wednesday following an investigation by the Nord project investigation group and SPVM units.

Cupidon appeared in court Thursday where he was charged with: kidnapping a person under the age of 16, kidnapping for the purpose of confinement, uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm, and use of a false firearm in the commission of a criminal act.

“We would like to reassure the public that the reported attempted kidnapping is an isolated incident,” SPVM said in a press release.
