Montreal couple wins $5M lottery jackpot while vacationing abroad

A Montreal couple is returning home from vacation with an unforgettable souvenir after winning the $5 million grand prize in the Celebration 2026 lottery.

Katelyn Abbey and Philip Cutler claimed the top prize drawn during the Celebration 2026 gala, which aired on Jan. 11. The couple has been purchasing Celebration tickets for about five years, often giving them as gifts to family members while keeping two tickets for themselves.

A few days after the televised draw, Cutler decided to check their tickets while the couple was travelling abroad. After reviewing the results on the Loto-Québec website, he realized one of their tickets matched the winning number for the $5 million jackpot. He immediately shared the news with Abbey.

The winning ticket was purchased at the Uniprix pharmacy located at 88 Sainte-Anne Street in Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue.

The retailer will receive a $50,000 commission, representing one per cent of the prize.
