Water main break prompts water service disruptions in Plateau-Mont-Royal

A water main rupture in Montreal’s Plateau-Mont-Royal has led to a water service disruption for residents.

City officials issued the precautionary notice following Tuesday’s break involving a 20-inch pipe on De Lorimier Avenue. Authorities have not provided a timeline for when the advisory will be lifted.

De Lorimier Street remains closed to traffic between Masson and Saint-Joseph.

City officials say the work is proving to be more complex than normal: a 16-inch high-pressure gas line belonging to Énergir is located in the immediate vicinity of the excavation area. This major constraint requires close coordination with Énergir to ensure the highest level of safety for workers and the sector.

A water cut is in place between Masson and Laurier. Bottled water was distributed yesterday and water remains available. The distribution is only provided for the first 24 hours of the water cut.
