Kraft Heinz Canada to invest $250 million to upgrade Montreal plant

Kraft Heinz Canada is investing $250 million to modernize its Montreal-based manufacturing plant, as the company looks to ramp up production of its staple food products in the region.

At a press conference Friday at its Town-of-Mont-Royal plant, federal finance Minister François-Philippe Champagne was joined by MP Anthony Housefather and Kraft Heinz Canada president Simon Laroche for the announcement.

“Right now, Canadians want to buy Canadian, they want to support local workers and support local production, that’s why we are here today and thats why it’s so important to see companies continue to support things here at home, and today’s a great example,” said Champagne.

The $250 million funding is expected to modernize production lines and boost capacity, reducing reliance on imports.

“As one of the largest food producer in the country, this is a clear signal of our confidence in Canada, its market, its infrastructure and its people,” said Laroche
