Polls: Quebec Liberals and PQ neck-and-neck, CAQ gains ground

With just a few months to go before the next Quebec election, two polls released Wednesday morning point to a tight race between the Quebec Liberal Party (PLQ) and the Parti Québécois (PQ). However, Christine Fréchette, the new Premier and leader of the Coalition Avenir Québec (CAQ) could still shake things up.
A Pallas Data-Québec125-L’actualité poll shows the CAQ gaining five points compared to the last poll. This increase comes at the expense of Charles Milliard’s Liberals, who have lost four points.
As a result, the PQ and the Liberals are neck-and-neck with 29 per cent and 28 per cent of voting intentions. The CAQ is in third place with 19 per cent.
A Synopsis Recherche poll conducted for La Presse points in the same direction. The PQ and the PLQ each garner 30 per cent, while the CAQ is sitting at 18 per cent.
Both polls show an advantage for the PQ due to their lead among Francophone voters: 35 per cent in the Pallas Data poll and 38 per cent in the Synopsis Recherche poll.
