Montreal’s Victoire took their Walter Cup celebrations to Ottawa on Tuesday, meeting with Prime Minister Mark Carney following their May 20th PWHL championship win.
The team was received around 12:30pm in the PM’s office, as part of their post-title tour, after beating the Ottawa Charge to capture the league’s championship and first for a Canadian team.

During the visit, captain Marie-Philip Poulin presented the Prime Minister with a personalized Victoire jersey bearing his name.
“We know we have you behind us to support us and it was unbelievable,” said Poulin.
- Carney congratulated the team on what he called an incredible and historic season, and thanked them for their contribution to Canadian hockey and national pride. He also said he hoped the players would now take a well-deserved rest after their championship run.
On social media, he pointed out that the Walter Cup had been won by a Canadian team for the first time. In the LPHF’s first two seasons, the Minnesota Frost had won the trophy.
The stop in Ottawa represents another important moment for Victoire. Last week, the team was received at Montreal City Hall by Mayor Soraya Martinez Ferrada to sign the guest book.
Last Saturday, Victoire celebrated its first championship with its fans. Several thousand people were present along Sainte-Catherine Street and in the Quartier des Spectacles for the parade.
