A 34-year-old man was hospitalized following a stabbing in Montreal’s Rosemont–La Petite-Patrie borough overnight.
Montreal police (SPVM) received a 911 call around 12:15 a.m. on Friday at around 12:15 a.m. reporting an altercation on Bélanger Street near Châteaubriand Ave. Responding officers found the victim conscious and suffering from injuries to his upper body caused by a sharp object.

The man was transported to hospital, where authorities say his injuries are not considered life-threatening.
Preliminary information suggests the stabbing occurred after a dispute involving the victim and two people escalated into violence.
Police say a woman was arrested shortly after the incident, but was released when investigators determined she had only been trying to stop the fight.

A 40-year-old suspect was arrested around 9:30 a.m. in a park near the scene of the incident. They are expected to meet with investigators as the inquiry continues.

Police are still searching for a possible second suspect.

The investigation into the stabbing remains ongoing.
