Gatineau police officer arrested for impaired driving

An officer with the Gatineau police service (SPVG) was arrested on July 10 by Sûreté du Québec officers for impaired driving, the SPVG announced in a press release.

The officer, who was not on duty at the time of the incident, will hold an administrative position within the police department until the legal proceedings related to his arrest are concluded.

These proceedings involve the filing of charges of impaired driving due to alcohol by the Directorate of Criminal and Penal Prosecutions.

The Ministry of Interior Security has also been informed of this incident.

The police officer has been released and is scheduled to appear in court at a later date.
