Montreal man gets hefty ticket after allegedly driving 160km/h on the Décarie

The Sûreté du Québec says a 30-year-old man from Montreal had his licence suspended after allegedly driving around 90 km/h over the posted speed limit on Saturday.

Provincial police say Montreal highway patrol officers intercepted the vehicle going south on the Décarie around 1:30 a.m. after clocking the vehicle travelling 160 km/h in a 70 km/h zone.

On top of having his licence suspended, the man was issued a $1,768 fine and nine demerit points.

Police add the driver may have been impaired at the time. He provided a breath sample and could face additional charges.
