Man fatally shot inside Salaberry-de-Valleyfield restaurant

A man was shot and killed inside a restaurant during dinner service in Salaberry-de-Valleyfield, in the Montérégie region.
Emergency services were dispatched to the restaurant on Alexandre Street on Friday evening, around 6:30 p.m.
“One person was injured before the suspect or suspects fled the scene. The victim is reported to be a man in his 20s who sustained serious injuries. He was transported to a hospital, where he was unfortunately pronounced dead,” said Sergeant Béatrice Dorsainville, spokesperson for the Sûreté du Québec (SQ).
It was not immediately clear whether the victim was known to law enforcement.
A security perimeter was established around the crime scene, and forensic technicians were dispatched to the location.
The investigation has been assigned to the SQ’s crimes against persons unit.
